The Construction of Interstate 495 in Boxborough: April 28
On Sunday April 28, 2013 the Boxborough Historical Society presented a program on "The Construction of Interstate 495 in Boxborough" at 7:00 PM in the Morse and Hilberg rooms of the Boxborough Town Hall, 29 Middle Road. This was a visual and oral history featuring George Robinson's 1962 photographs and a panel of local residents (and members of the audience) sharing their personal memories. Alan Rohwer of the Boxborough Historical Society and the Boxborough Historical Commission presented the photographs and moderated the panel.
Historical Society Pot Luck Supper March 24
On Sunday March 24, 2013 the Boxborough Historical Society held its Annual Pot Luck Supper at 5:00 PM in the Grange Room at Boxborough Town Hall, 29 Middle Road Boxborough. Corinne Hosfeld Smith presented a program on "The History of the Fitchburg Railroad". The Fitchburg Railroad was a key transportation link in Northwest Middlesex County and very important to the town of Boxborough through the flag stop on Depot Road and a full station in West Acton. Corinne is an expert in the travels of Henry David Thoreau, an accomplished librarian and author whose book "Westward I go free: Tracing Thoreau's Last Journey" was published in 2012. In researching her book she made an extensive study of the Fitchburg Railroad and its impact on this area.
