Sunday February 22 Pot Luck Supper 5:00 PM GRANGE ROOM TOWN HALL Alan Rohwer: D-Day 64 Years later. The program featured slides and a talk by Alan on the visit he and three of his fellow Minuteman took to France last September. Included were highlights of visits to the Normandy D-Day battleground and other attractions. Alan also has a collection of books, maps and brochures he collected on the trip to share.
Sunday March 22 7:00 PM MORSE & HILBERG ROOMS TOWN HALL Donia Conn, Preserving Your Family Treasures. We learned about caring for your important family items with Donia Conn of the Northeast Document Conservation Center. Ms. Conn is one of the Field Tech Reps for the Northeast Document Conservation Center and a trained and experienced conservator. She discussed the preservation of papers, photos, and other family treasures so future generations can appreciate your family's experiences, heritage, and history. Using actual artifacts and mementos, Ms. Conn discussed the display, storage, and care of some of the most common and most cherished items in family collections. Participants were encouraged to bring items that can be transported safely for examination and discussion.
Sunday May 17 2:00 PM VISIT TO THOREAU BIRTHPLACE CONCORD MA This was a super tour of the Thoreau Birthplace in Concord that is in the midst of renovations. We got a chance not only to see the site and hear the story but also saw what lies "inside the walls" and what needed to be done to restore such a landmark. The tour started at 2 pm and lasted 60-90 minutes. Parking is limited at the site so people gathered at Town Hall at 1:15 pm for carpooling to Concord at 1:30 PM.
Sunday October 18 1:30 PM BOXBOROUGH MUSEUM. THE BRIEF ANNUAL MEETING AND ELECTION OF OFFICERS AND DIRECTORS OF THE SOCIETY TOOK PLACE AT THE MUSEUM.
Sunday October 18 2:00 PM HARVARD HISTORICAL SOCIETY “Covered Bridges of New England: A Photo Exhibit” There were carpools from the Museum at the conclusion of the Annual Meeting.
Sunday November 15 7:00 PM MORSE & HILBERG ROOMS TOWN HALL George Krusen: “Native Americans in the Boxborough Area” George recently attended a gathering of historians who study this subset of history and shared with us their various perspectives regarding theories and sites.
